How Did I Get Here?
While working on such hit TV shows like the The Passage (FOX) and Ozark (Netflix), I sometimes pinch myself and ask “How did I get here?”.
Born and raised in Ohio in the 1960’s, the thought of Hollywood was far from any realm of thinking on my part. Sure, as a child I was a dreamer, but it wasn’t until years later while watching TV episodes of Julia that my imagination went wild thinking someday I could be an actress like Diahann Carroll.
Fast forward to 1998 (now residing in Utah), this is when I knew from the bottom of my soul that acting was “the thing” that I was meant to do. After a stint of local community plays - I was given the chance to act on the professional stage with the Salt Lake Acting Company as Nurse Logan in Arthur Miller's Ride Down Mt. Morgan. It was electrifying! That experience was what gave me the clarity to dedicate my life to acting. Of course, at that time, I was thinking more of being a stage actress. I loved it! There was nothing more exhilarating than bringing a story to life before a live audience.
Let’s face it though, being a stage actor in Utah doesn’t exactly pay the bills. I had taken on other acting jobs in corporate videos, print, and film as a stand-in/background player… yes, even while working a full-time job and raising a family. Whew! Reflecting back on those days, I still can’t believe I was able to manage all of that!
I made the big move to Atlanta, Georgia in 2000 where I still live today. It’s here in Georgia that I fell head over heels in love with film and TV. I call it having a ‘love affair’ because stage is still my number one love! After all, nothing can beat a live audience - nothing.
Then it happened. In 2013 I booked my very first speaking role here in Atlanta on the number one popular cable TV show The Walking Dead. The dream of becoming a true professional actor was realized. It was the most rewarding experience in both my professional and personal life. I learned so much on that set working alongside amazing talent. They set the bar for me.
As a proud SAG-AFTRA member, I continue to make the dream a reality that I'd imagined so many years ago. Stay tuned, as the best is yet to come!
